What is LPAC?
The LPAC was formed in the Summer of 2010 after drastic cuts were made in California State Education budgets and Program Improvement classes were mandated by SJUSD at Lincoln High School. Several classes in the Performing Arts were lost including a section each of Drama, Musical Theatre, AP Music Theory and Jazz Choir. The Lincoln Performing Arts community rallied and we were able to reinstate Musical Theatre and one Jazz Choir with the staff we had available. We did this through a donation campaign and by producing an alumni musical theatre show and a holiday cabaret. The group's primary function is to maintain the current number of sections of music and drama within the Performing Arts Department. Currently, the funding is restored for all sections by the district. The LPAC will still function as an umbrella to support the students in the performing arts at Lincoln. Our current project is to fund and finish the boys dressing room so that it has mirrors, counters and lights like the girls' room. The LPAC will continue to make contact with alumni and foster the legacy that has become Lincoln Performing Arts. As long as the program continues to inspire young performers, the LPAC has a place at Lincoln. |
